Space Therapy

What is a Space Therapist?

  • A person who talks to you about a particular living space and helps you discover, through conversation, how to make it most comfortable for you
  • Someone who can analyze a space and diagnose challenges while offering solutions to make the atmosphere more functional
  • One who can reframe the emotional issues of space
  • Helps a person understand his/her space and living patterns
  • Intentionally matches lifestyle with home or work space
  • Makes sense of familiar and unfamiliar spaces

We begin with an interview of about 2 hrs.  Questions will be asked about your house or personal office; frustrations, needs, and how you wish to live and work in these spaces.  Each adult (children may be invited to also engage this process) will do a core values naming - clarifying how you wish the space to support you.  The interview and the core values provide the information needed to offer considerations for your 'space transformation'.  A written ‘map’ supplies information about the intention of each room under consideration as well as suggestions for change.

Responses from Space Therapy Clients:

  • Looking at our core values was something we had never thought about before but it helped us look at our space and our lives in new ways
  • The initial questionnaire was fun and interesting
  • We were energized and excited to get to work on our space transformation
  • The coalescing of ideas about house and home into a system with order and meaning allowed my feelings to be better understood
  • The document will be referred to many times in the future

What changes are happening due to the consultation?

  • We have already begun by moving furniture
  • We will be painting most of the house and adding pictures/art that will bring beauty into our lives
  • We will ‘destuff’ the kitchen by clearing the counter
  • I will create a room of my own
  • The entrance from the garage will be made more fun
  • Our outdoor rooms will be given shape
